As a result of this solar project, the farmers of Şanlıurfa without access to the electrical grid can now produce and consume the electricity needed to irrigate their crops, allowing them to cultivate cotton and other high value produce. They can now plant and harvest larger amounts of crops and make longer-term agricultural plans. The newly installed 65 kWp PV system and 30 kW ground pump can draw 1200 m³ of water from a 72 m well and is able to irrigate approximately 450,000 m² of land.

Turkey’s high level of solar irradiation positions it as the second most advantageous location in Europe for solar energy generation. We believe that EkoRE can lead the way for solar-powered agricultural irrigation, demonstrating to individuals and businesses that we can supply electricity to those who previously lacked access, contribute the country’s economy, and most importantly so that we can leave future generations with a cleaner environment.
